:Walk away with some tried and true hotel negotiation strategies that are effective regardless of market condition thereby increasing your value to your organization and the leadership within your organization.

Be the first kid on your block to identify some of today’s trends to benefit you at the negotiating table. Mike Burns is the EVP of DMI Hotels and is responsible for new partner development, developing DMI sales team and general sales. DMI Hotels serves as a National Sales Office channel for primarily Independent Hotels and represents approximately 200 hotels, resorts, cvb’s and DMC’s worldwide.

Speaker bio:  Prior to joining DMI Hotels in July of 2006, Mike spent 21 plus years in a variety of roles with Experient, formerly Conferon Global Services. Mike’s responsibilities and experiences during this time includes hotel contract negotiations, on-site logistics and coordination for all aspects of meetings ranging in size from 40 to 15,000 attendees, hiring and retaining staff, training and managing the Ohio Regional Office (19 staff) as the Vice President of Conferon’s Ohio region.

Mike was also heavily involved in many aspects of employee training including negotiations, contract negotiations, food and beverage and on-site logistics management on a company wide basis while at Conferon.  Prior to joining Conferon, Mike spent three years as a Catering Service Manager with Marriott Hotels.

As Mike would say, whether you are a planner or hotelier, I have probably walked in your shoes at one point in my career.

Target Audience: All association staff members, education and professional development professionals, and invited guests.
