It is an allied society of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE). Best Management Practices Thursday – November 3 - 11:30 A.M. – 1:30 P.M. Precision Metalforming Association Headquarters 6363 Oak Tree Blvd., Independence, OH 44131 Program Description: Small but mighty . . . that’s an apt description of the Cleveland area association community. Webster defines “community” as, “a body of persons of common professional interests.” So, fittingly, this meeting provides the perfect forum for sharing those common interests. GCSAE’s annual “Best Practices” program allows you to learn from YOUR peers in YOUR community how some associations have successfully addressed key association services and management issues we all face every day. This year’s program will feature four presentations, described below, followed by a question-and-answer panel session to continue the dialogue. Developing iPad Apps -- Garen Distelhorst, Communications Director of the Marble Institute of America will discuss what you need to know when developing an app for the iPad, Droid or Blackberry. Tablet technology is the wave of the future and Garen will provide do’s and don’ts on everything from selecting the platform to choosing a vendor and everything in between. E-learning -- John Headlee, Director of Hosting Operations at Paragrid, will discuss some of the decisions that should be made early in the process of developing an e-learning program and how to avoid problems during implementation and operation of the program. Publications -- Michael von Glahn, editor, and Dan Angelo, assistant editor, “The College Store” magazine, the National Association of College Stores (NACS). In this increasingly digital world it’s easy—and wrong—to think you can engage members with e-mail after e-mail. Learn how NACS communicates with and engages its more than 3,000 members through its award-winning, bimonthly magazine. Training Needs Assessment -- Bruce Broman, Program Director at the Precision Metalforming Association, will explain the steps to take in determining training needs for any job function and what to do once those needs are defined. Moderator, Dave Sansone, Precision Metalforming Association Schedule 11:30 – 11:45 Registration & Networking 11:45 – 12:15 Lunch 12:15 – 1:15 Best Practices Presentations 1:15 – 1:30 Q & A
