GCSAE Networking Meeting The Latest on Cleveland’s Offshore Wind Turbine Project Lorry Wagner, Ph.D., President Lake Erie Energy Development Corporation Thursday, September 22, 2011 - 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm Edgewater Yacht Club, 6700 Memorial Shoreway, Cleveland, OH 44102 Program Description: Plan to attend the GCSAE Kickoff Networking Meeting for a fun, informative event while enjoying the view of Cleveland’s skyline with hors d’oeuvres and beverages from the patio at the Edgewater Yacht Club. It will feature guest speaker Lorry Wagner, President of Lake Erie Energy Development Corporation (LEEDCo). LEEDCo, a private, nonprofit enterprise representing Northern Ohio's public interests in offshore wind, is leading Northern Ohio's regional efforts to build and install an initial 20-30 megawatt (MW) offshore wind pilot project near Cleveland in Lake Erie - the first offshore freshwater wind energy project in North America. Lorry will discuss how the development of offshore wind power generation in Lake Erie is spurring economic development in Northern Ohio's wind energy industry.
Speaker bio: Dr. Lorry Wagner, an experienced energy engineer and longstanding member of the Great Lakes Energy Development Task Force, is a professional engineer with several degrees from Purdue University and extensive experience in wind turbine technology. Dr. Wagner brings extensive knowledge of maritime and subsurface issues central to the deployment of wind turbines offshore. As such, he is well suited to serve as president of the Cleveland-based Lake Erie Energy Development Corporation, a position he assumed in May 2010. Previous energy project experience includes hydroelectric, solar, nuclear fission/fusion, as well as wind. Target Audience: All association and industry partner executives and staff members.
Edgewater Yacht Club is located at the Edgewater Park Exit of Cleveland's West Memorial Shoreway (Rt. 2), west of downtown Cleveland between the exit for West 25th & the Clifton Blvd. exit/entrance. Upon entering the parking lot, mention you are with GCSAE at the small guard station. This seminar qualifies for 1 CAE and CMP credit.
